The usefulness and importance of PRE PREP

Use the Pre prep before your application of nail products, here we are thinking of Nail polish, gel Polish, gel, acrylic and acrygel (polygel)

It withdraws moisture only temporarily (about 20 minutes) and locally, then the nail will restore its natural moisture balance.

Thanks to the use of Pre Prep, all base coats can adhere better to the natural nails and your nail set will last longer. So this is how you prevent product lifting

The Pre Prep is the last step of your PREP

Not - or poor application of the PREP of the natural nail is 1 of the most important causes of lifting of you artificial nail products. On an oily nail plate, no product will be able to adhere properly.

So to briefly go over the steps of the PREP:

P = Perform manicure. Remove all dead skin from your nail plate. Using a bok paw, push back the cuticle so that your nail plate expands. Also cut away loose cuticle using sheet nippers or cuticle scissors.

R = Remove Shine. Carefully and thoroughly remove the shine from the natural nail, making sure you have roughed up every nook and cranny. Use a new buffer OR an already used 180 grit file. CAUTION; you may only remove 3 cell layers, filing too hard will cause damage to the nail plate. a damaged nail plate will hold your art product very poorly. (So be sure to avoid Air and Lifting, feel free to attend the FREE Air and Lifting Workshop)

E = Eliminate Surface Contamination Is to thoroughly dust your client's hands and nail plate.

P = Purify Nail Plate Layer this is the last step of your preparation and here you will thus properly degrease the natural nail and use the powerful PRE PREP

This way you have the perfect base to apply your artificial nail product.

How do we use the Pre Prep Dehydrator?

Apply a fine layer on the nail with the brush provided.

The Pre Prep will immediately evaporate and in the evaporation process, the moisture will be extracted from the nail.

How will the nail plate restore its moisture balance?

The natural moisture balance of a natural nail is always fluctuating and external factors such as heat, cold, water,... have a major impact on it. For a long shelf life of your nail products, it is therefore very important to stabilise this balance to prevent cracking, breaking or chipping of the nail.

So always advise your client to apply cuticle oil under the nail and at the cuticle preferably twice a day. This is necessary to preserve your art product in the long term. Thanks to oil, moisture moves more slowly in the nail and the nail does not dry out as quickly due to external influences such as weather and water. A nail that has dried out too much does not hold art product as well because the nail cells detach and flake off each other. The cells then stick to the artificial product making it appear that the product is detaching, but it is actually the cells that are detaching from each other.

Fun fact:

Wearing artificial product on your nails can increase your moisture balance by 70%, strange? Actually not when you think about it. Water is the most widely used solvent we know and therefore also the most aggressive. Because soaking in water makes our nail swell, making it very flexible and therefore fragile. Follow-up water dries but in this process it takes natural moisture and fat from your nail, leaving them dehydrated and brittle. Wearing Artificial Product will therefore ensure that water and other products cannot penetrate the nail as much by protecting it, increasing the moisture balance by 70%.

The different applications of rubber base

the use of rubber base is multifunctional and even though it is original from the gel polish range, it has now proven that it has a strong adhesion quality on nails for all gel products

  • Can be used as a Base Coat for gel polish - Utopian Gelpolish, where you polish a thin ironing layer into the nail plate.
  • Used for natural nail strengthening, you build up the nail a bit and you can also extend the nail 1-2mm.
  • Can also be used as a base under gel and acrylic products to ensure better adhesion.
  • Can be used over nail art for better protection and thanks to its flexible nature it will increase the durability of your nail art, both the drawn Nail Art and the stones or other ornaments.
  • Can be applied over acrylic as an extra bond between acrylic and color gel or gel polish
  • OR to level out imperfections caused by filing the construction of your artificial product such as acrylic, gel or acrylic gel.

Thanks to its flexible and slightly acidic characteristics, RUBBERBASE has superior adhesion.

RUBBERBASE or also called BIAB (=Builder In A Bottle)

But why is RUBBERBASE now called BIAB?

RUBBERBASE was the 1st and initial name, but because you can build lightly with it like you do with building gels. Not much of course, but that's why it was regarded as building in a bottle, so BIAB = Builder In A Bottle.

The rubber base has superior adhesion because it penetrates into the 1st 5 cell layers to adhere.

Use of Rubberbase

Discover different ways in which the Rubberbase can be used.

  • Method 1: You can use the RUBBERBASE as a Gellak Base Coat (link to Base and base+). Apply 1 thin layer to the nail plate by making small movements forwards and backwards that you polish the RUBBERBASE / BIAB into the nail. Catalyze in a LED UV Lamp for 30 seconds. Do not touch the skin to prevent lifting and allergies. Then you apply your 2 layers of gel polish color and your top coat (harden each layer)
  • Method 2: Apply 1 thin layer to the nail plate by making small movements forward and backward that you polish the RUBBERBASE / BIAB into the nail. Catalyst in a LED UV Lamp for 30 seconds

Then you apply a layer of RUBBERBASE/ BIAB and take a drop on your brush, if you work with the bottle take a drop and hold your brush on the side and put RUBBERBASE/ BIAB on the APEX part. Divide the sides of the amount over the nail with a Microstyler 0001 or 006

If necessary, hold the nail upside down to make the APEX form better.

Cure in the UV LED Lamp for 60 seconds

If you have shaped / built nicely, which is very easy with the RUBBERBASE / BIAB  then you do not have to file and you can immediately start placing your color and then your top coat

Because even though you place your nail base perfectly, if you don't have the right quality of colour, your whole set can fail. How should I apply the gel polish correctly?

  1. Do a proper PREP, find out the step by step of thorough preparation here.
  2. Place a layer of colour on BASE & BASE+ or RUBBERBASE/BIAB, gel, acrylic, acrygel/Polygel/EPIC Fusion. It is not necessary to cleanse first unless you would have filed first. 
  3. Apply light pressure by placing your gel polish brush 3 mm from the cuticle until your bristles reaches the width of the cuticle. Then slide  to the cuticle as close as possible to the cuticle without touching.
  4. Then hold your Brush flat and hover without pressure all over the nail.
  5. Next, turn the finger to one side and with one half of your brush, repeat this step and line up nicely at the side wall line without touching the skin and go all over the side.
  6. You turn the finger to the other side and do the same with the other side of the nail.
  7. Go very lightly with flat brush and float all over the nail to even out and close the hairline. (= is the edge of the nail free edge)
  8. Cure for 30 seconds
  9. Apply a 2nd layer if necessary
  10. Place a TOP COAT

TIP: with acrylics, you can choose to apply a very thin layer of RUBBERBASE/BIAB before you apply the GELPOLISH COLOR. This way, your colour will adhere even better to the acrylic.
